Julie Strauss Bettinger is a literary journalist who has specialized in telling other people’s true stories for more than 25 years. Her narrative nonfiction book, Encounters With Rikki: from Hurricane Katrina rescue to exceptional Therapy Dog, is a Foreword INDIES Book of the Year Award finalist. Her essay, “Grapes & Wrath at Mission San Luis,” was recently published in Apalachee Review literary journal and she was also named a finalist for Proximity Magazine’sNarrative Journalism Prize. Her entry will be included in an anthology coming out in 2017.
Julie coauthored the award winning Blasted by Adversity: the Making of a Wounded Warrior (Inkshares, 2015) and The Book of Bowden, with a foreword by Burt Reynolds (paperback edition 2007, Taylor Trade Publishing, an imprint of Rowman & Littlefield Publishing Group, Inc.).
